Also, a company can object and win an objection to other than a 93b labor organization organizing security personnel. As evidenced by a recent objection in West VA where we are organizing some Wells fargo people. So it works to our advantage if the law is applied evenly. But some companies do not object and the NLRB will not internene in most cases

Performance Pay

Our extreme right-wing, conservative federal govt is absolutely intent on introducing performance pay for teachers based on what is going on in some American states - I think Arkansas is one. Can';t find much on the web about whether they are working or not and what teachers' opinions are.

Any comments?

Recent research by Nottingham University and the London University�s Institute of Education discovered that pupils are more likely to get better results if the teacher is new to the profession. According to this research, 80 per cent of staff in their first seven years in the classroom produced value-added results at or above the expected level. But this fell to 68 per cent for those with between 8 and 23 years� experience and to 59% per cent for those with 24 years or more.

Do you agree with this research? If so, what reasons can you give for these results?

Just a follow up, we managed to get a 3 year contract for the SPOs in DC and Germantown and we have been working extensively with them to get them back on their feet. They have suffered tremendously under other organizations and they are finally standing on their own two feet and have pushed their companies back to their place a few times thus far and will continue to.

Members;

IGUA region 10 organized approximately 200 plus Security Police Officers working at the US Department of Energy Headquarters in Washington, DC and Germantown. We won a decisive victory with the vast majority of the vote. We will be following up with meetings and getting their Executive board established and then coming on with Steward training etc for all those chosen. This is a good win for us and them and we hope to continue this trend in ALL regions.
